About this place
Brandon Creek, known in Irish as "Cuas an Bhodaigh," is a small, picturesque inlet situated on the northwestern edge of the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. This serene spot is historically significant as the legendary departure point of Saint Brendan the Navigator, who, according to tradition, set sail from here in the 6th century on a voyage across the Atlantic. In 1976, explorer Tim Severin embarked on a similar journey from Brandon Creek in a leather-clad boat, successfully demonstrating the plausibility of Saint Brendan's voyage. Today, Brandon Creek is a tranquil fishing harbor, offering visitors stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding rugged landscape.
