- Preparation: Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions can change rapidly in mountainous areas. Carry sufficient water and snacks, and inform someone about your hiking plans.
- Navigation: While the trails are generally well-marked, bringing a map or GPS device is advisable to ensure a safe and enjoyable hike.
- Safety Advisory: Stay on designated paths, heed any warning signs, and be cautious near water bodies, especially after heavy rainfall when paths may be slippery.

This walk winds through one of the quieter corners of the Dingle Peninsula, past two mountain lakes and through the leafy parkland forest of Glanteenassig — a name derived from the Irish for "Valley of the Waterfalls", and the landscape makes good on that promise without any fuss. The path is gentle enough for a relaxed afternoon: little elevation change, a modest distance, suited to those who don't need to lace up hiking boots but still want to feel that they've arrived somewhere. Lough Slat and Lough Caum lie quietly in the valley, ringed by heather and reeds, with the Slieve Mish Mountains as a silent backdrop.
What sets the route apart is its rhythm of contrast: open water, then dark spruce forest, then light again. The wooded sections of Glanteenassig have something of an old garden plan about them — straight avenue paths, moss on the stones, the occasional sound of running water you can't quite locate. For cyclists the terrain is largely manageable, provided you favour an unhurried pace and an eye for detail. Walkers with children or dogs will feel perfectly at ease here.
The light on the peninsula is capricious and generous in equal measure — overcast mornings give the moss an almost fluorescent green cast, while breaks in the cloud set the surface of the loughs briefly alight. This is not a route that asks to impress. It asks only for attention.
